There are beaches in Los Angeles and Miami. It is kind of like going to New York City. There are shops around you and everywhere is practically the same. Not much in Arizona to do. When I went to downtown Phoenix, it was deserted. References :
The beaches, Hollywood (which isn’t all that great but still worth a look), snowboarding, L.A., the state capitol, Disney Land, Universal Studios, dozens of theme parks, zoos, aquariams, Pear 39 in San Fransico & Fishermans Warf (lots and lots of good restaurants).

In California, you have plenty to do.
