it would take anywhere from 5-7 hours, depending on traffic. for the majority of the drive, you’re on the 10 freeway in the middle of nowhere, so if you’re cruising at 80 mph, it should be around 5 hours. once you get to riverside and orange county is when the traffic kicks in around 7am-9am and from 3pm-6pm. References : i’ve driven to and from arizona and the riverside area several times.
A realistic travel time is about 7 hours, figuring stopping for gas, to eat, and expecting at least a couple of traffic snags.
Stop for gas at Arizona exit 1 at the Flying J, it will be 10-20 cents cheaper per gallon than if you cross the state line.
Stay on I-10 all the to the 57 (Pomona) FWY, go South and pick-up the 22 (Garden Grove) FWY in central OC.
By logic and reason it is neither the shortest nor quickest route, but in actual practice it is the fastest. Avoid the 91 FWY at all costs and avoid the 60 between 3AM and 9PM. References : Still make this trip 4X a year…used to make it 3X a week a few years ago!
