Sedona Arizona Oak Creek Canyon Tour

April 112010

In Sedona at the east end of Uptown is the entrance to Oak Creek Canyon. As you travel through the canyon, highway 89A meanders alongside Oak Creek below the towering formations. You’ll encounter several lodges, fishing holes, picnic areas, great hiking trails and campgrounds.
Further up Oak Creek Canyon is Slide Rock State Park. The natural water slides and pools carved into the red rocks provide a perfect setting for family fun. Plan to arrive at the park early because many days it fills to capacity.
Eventually the highway winds its way up the switchbacks to a scenic overlook, through a Ponderosa Pine forest and into Flagstaff for a total journey of about 25 miles from the “Y”.

Sedona is beautiful my grandfather built a beautiful house on solider pass road. In those days their was only 3 other houses on that road in West Sedona. I couldn’t even find it because it’s all houses and overpriced. It’s a big tourist place now so sad I remember the beauty and when it was small and friendly.
