Who has some information about the GM auction in Arizona for oldtimers and special cars?

March 212010

Have read in the motorpress that GM sells some special cars of the own collection to make some money. Has somebody got a link to an auction catalogue? Or how could I take part in the auction? When?

Do you mean the Barrett Jackson auction held in Arizona? They featured that on The Speed Channel constantly for the past few days, but I think it may be over now. Too bad that you missed it.

GM sold some one-of-a-kind concept cars in the auction, and some of them didn’t sell for as high as I thought considering how unique they were. Here’s some of them that I saw go up for auction -

1992 Chevy Impala SS 510ci (actually had a 510ci big block!)

1994 Chevy Impala SS 6-speed manual (all of the production versions had 4-speed automatics)

1987 Pontiac Trans Am Twin Turbo (I would have bought this one if I had the money LOL!)

1990′s C4 Corvette 454 (yes, they put a 454 in a C4 Corvette!)

1990′s Corvette ZR-1 with active suspension

There were a few others but I can’t remember what they were.

Information regarding colleges near Scottsdale Arizona?

March 172010

We are considering a move to the Scottsdale area. My wife has two years left in school. She is an accounting major. Other than the University of Arizona, what would her options be as far a colleges? She is currently attending a smaller state school, as the tuition at a major university is outrageous. If someone could suggest a few options for us to research, or a website that might guide me to a school, it would be greatly appreciated.

well, there’s Scottsdale Community College

http://www.scottsdalecc.edu/

There are a few other community colleges around but besides that the only other college is Arizona State University http://www.asu.edu/, which is in Tempe AZ (approx. 15 minutes away from Scottsdale). The college you mentioned (University of Arizona) is in Tucson (approx. 2 1/2 hours away from Scottsdale)

more community colleges to look at:

Where would I find information about Santa Fe Rail train depots in Arizona?

March 152010

Looking specifically for information about location of Huachuca depot and Elgin depot. Thanks in advance.
Gosh! Thanks to both of you. That’s way better than I was expecting. They’re rather obscure depots.

I perused the Railroad Station Historical Society’s website, which keeps a detailed listing of surviving depots/stations by state and Huachuca and Elgin are not listed as survivors (which you may have already known).

To find out information about those depots I would suggest contacting someone from the RRHS or Evan Werkema, which maintains and owns the Santa Fe website listed below.

How do I find inmate information from the Red Rock Correctional Facility in Arizona?

March 132010

Need to know if loved one incarcerated at prison is alive and well after being recently relocated there from Hawaii prison . How to get information on inmates, visitations, phones, etc.

Go to the Arizona Department of Corrections Inmate Datasearch http://test.azcorrections.gov/isearch/inmate_datasearch/index.aspx

Here is the address and phone numbers http://www.correctionscorp.com/facility_detailed.cfm?facid=181

You can also find more info on the www.prisontalk.com

If he has been transferred recently, the information on him might not be entered into the database yet. You need to wait for few weeks and then do the search again.
